Boston Dynamics is a Waltham, MA robotics company founded in 1992 by Marc Raibert as a spin-off from MIT's Leg Lab, and majority-owned by Hyundai Motor Group since 2021. Its robots focus on mobility and manipulation in industrial settings: Spot is a quadruped that carries sensors for routine inspection in plants, utilities and construction sites, Stretch unloads trucks and containers in warehouses, and Atlas is an electric humanoid built for manufacturing and mobile manipulation work. Orbit software manages Spot and Stretch fleets, schedules missions and turns inspection data into insights.
