Meet Unitree G1, a compact humanoid robot with a wide range of motion in a 1.32 m, roughly 35 kg frame. Its 23 joints, six in each leg, five in each arm and one in the waist, turn through extra-large angles, and the whole robot folds down to 69 cm tall.
Unitree develops G1's movement with imitation and reinforcement learning, and continuous over-the-air updates keep its software improving. A depth camera and 3D LiDAR give it spatial perception, alongside a four-microphone array, a 5 W speaker, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, while an 8-core CPU, dual joint encoders, industrial-grade crossed roller bearings and fully hollow internal wiring sit inside.
A quick-release 9,000 mAh battery gives about 2 hours per charge, and a manual controller is included. This standard G1 does not support secondary development; Unitree sells a separate G1 EDU edition with up to 43 joints, optional force-controlled three-fingered hands and developer access. Unitree notes that humanoid robots are still at an early stage and advises understanding their limitations before buying.
